White Chinos : The Non-Nautical Way

(all font in burgundy is clickable)(All shoes in the posts are by Johnston & Murphy and the chinos are from Bonobos)

It’s very easy to style white chinos the “nautical way” by pairing them with a striped or solid navy shirt. Of course, I have nothing against the nautical style, especially for the summer, but, white chinos have their place outside of the boating realm. One of the great characteristic of white chinos is that they are a blank canvas that can be pair with just about anything. As opposed to white jeans, chinos have the ability and the texture to be dressed up well for the office or a semi-casual event and they can really be dressed down with a polo or henley shirt. Below are four outfits that address the issue of stylish white chinos without going nautical and without relying on “peacocking” colors to seem on trend.

1. Summer at the office

White Chinos by Bonobos – Khaki Blazer by Sons of Intrigue – Cabarris Penny Loafer By Johnston & Murphy

Putting together a work look with white chinos is a bit tricky and really depends on your work environment. If you work in an extremely conservative corporate office, this look will not fly. Pairing together a khaki or navy blazer with white chinos is a sure-fire way to ground this look. Depending on how comfortable you feel in terms of your personal style, a solid corporate blue shirt or even a gingham shirt are perfect combos.

Other Shirt Combos For This Look:

  • Solid shirt with a navy knit or silk tie in a variety of patterns
  • Green or blue gingham shirt
  • Navy blue shirt, no tie (casual friday)

2. Black & White

Blazer from suit by English Laundry – White Chinos by Bonobos

Black and white is one of the simplest color combinations to put together, however; I almost never wear them together unless it’s for a formal situation. One of my readers recently emailed me asking whether it’s suitable to wear black shoes with white pants. The answer to that question is, YES! The key to pairing black shoes with white pants comes down to the silhouette and texture of the shoes. Black leather shoes pair best with cotton pants and chinos because the texture of the shoes are flat. If you decide you want to wear white jeans instead of chinos, black suede shoes or leather shoes will complement your jeans well.

 3. Black & White Part Deux  The black and white look can be dressed down with white chinos too. One of the key factors to bringing this look together is the addition of the grey stripes in the shirt. If you decide to pair a solid black shirt with your white pants you will see that they do not complement each other well. A color like grey is much softer and really acts as a grounding agent in an outfit like this one.  Where can this look be worn?

  • Great look for a casual weekend for errands
  • Casual dinner
  • Great for a summer evening party that may turn into a night out

4. Keeping it Casual

Straw hat & Army Green Henley by H&M -  White Chinos by Bonobos - Handmade Italian Loafers by Johnston & Murphy

Putting together casual looks for the spring and summer is one of the easiest things to do using white chinos. Instead of reaching for your most colorful shirt, think about going with some earth-tones to keep you look very relaxed. If you’re not dress shoe guy, add a pair of canvas sneakers, espadrilles, driving moccasins or flip-flops to your white chino look and enjoy your day.

For a more casual look:

  • Swap out the henley shirt for a polo
  • Invest a few grey v-neck t shirts
  • If you want to go with the nautical look, add a striped navy and white (or grey shirt) to this look

Style Review: DaLuca Watch Straps

(all text in burgundy is clickable)

For all of the watch enthusiasts, I present to you DaLuca Straps. To be a bit more specific, I present to you the DaLuca leather NATO watch strap. If you fancy yourself a style savant and in particular, a watch snob, I am sure you have seen those interchangeable nylon that have graced the pages of GQ. Today, it’s time to upgrade your watch strap to the leather version from DaLuca Straps. Back in February, DaLuca Straps was featured on the GQ Eye  and I decided it was time to give these straps a real spin. For the watch snobs out there, the DaLuca leather nato strap is right up your alley to accommodate what I am assuming is your extensive timepiece collection that may be filled with Rolex, IWC and Invicta watches. Even if your watch game isn’t as “top shelf” as the watches that were mentioned, but, you want to up the ante, add one of these cordovan leather straps from DuLuca (all made in the USA).

What I like about these watch straps:

  • They come in a variety of sizes that meet the dimension of most watches.
  • The leather is very supple and lays nicely around the wrist.
  • They come a variety of colors.
  • They complement most leather belts and shoes.
  • The colors will only get better with age.
  • Really adds a bit of refinement to any timepiece.
  • If the cordovan straps are out of your price range, DaLuca still offers the nylon version at a lower price.

Beach Essentials : Featuring PASTE Swimwear

(All text in burgundy is clickable)

This summer I’ll be taking my talents to the beach (at least Sea Isle City, NJ). Of course, Memorial Day is the unofficial start to summer for most of us in the United States, which means “IT’S BEACH TIME”. Women in bikinis, cold beers, sand and women in bikinis (yup it deserves a double mention) are the things that come to mind when most guys think of beach essentials. This year, it is time to hit the beach with a bit of style and show the world, or at least the ladies you hope to attract, that you are not like the rest of the over-sized board short wearers desperately attempting to look cool.

As a guy, you have probably been planning for the day it was hot enough to hit the beach since Labor Day of last year. You’ve hit the gym, putting in miles on the treadmill, and finally you feel ready to show off the hard work that you’ve put into your body. You dig through your beach wear from last year and realize that all of your trunks are long as hell. I’m guessing you’ve probably read the GQ’s and Esquire magazines and seen the shorter and more tailor trunks and said to yourself “I need to man up with my trunks and go shorter too”. Now, when I say shorter trunks I don’t mean, thunder-ball short. You need to know what works for your height and primarily your thigh length. Here is a little bit of advice in terms of length of swim trunks.

Length of swim trunks:

  • Guys with shorter legs (or shorter guys in general) should opt for trunks that are between 5 to 7 inches.
  • By going with a shorter length trunk as a shorter fellow, you will elongate your legs. This will make you appear taller.
  • Taller guys have the option of going as short as the 5 inches length, but, will probably feel the most comfortable with trunks in the 7 to 9 in length.
  • If your trunks go past your knees, they are TOO LONG!
  • Many brands like PASTE are adding swimwear to their lines in the retro fits of the 50′s & 60′s, which are a bit slimmer than todays balloon suits.

Below are some items to add to your summer Beach Essential repertoire.

Navy 3 Piece Suit by Indochino

(Most text in burgundy is clickable)

If you are a reader of men’s style magazines, style blogs, or if you’ve talked to any guy with a bit of style know-how, they’ve probably preached the versatility of the navy blue suit. So for the millionth time, invest in a well-crafted navy blue suit (preferably a 3 piece). Getting your suit off the rack is a suitable (pun intended) choice when buying a suit for most guys, however; the option of getting a custom suit made has now become affordable. If finding a local tailor in your neighborhood is not possible due to high prices or availability, turn to Indochino. The key to working with an online custom menswear company is getting accurate measurements taken. You’ll need to get your measurements from a local tailor, a dry cleaner or maybe a friend with some tape measure skills. Once that part is done you can start building your suit online, and within three weeks you’ll have a suit customized to your personal preferences, delivered right to your door.

The next step is styling your navy suit once you get it home. I’ve decided to show a few looks to  inspire you to rock your new navy suit or give your old suit some new life.

Waist Coat & Black Shoes

Navy Waist Coat & Trousers from custom 3-piece suit by Indochino - Plaid Shirt by Onassis Clothing - Leather Loafer by Robert Wayne

The general rule of thumb when it comes to pairing shoes with a navy suit is to avoid black. Don’t let the nay sayers dictate your style. A pair of black shoes can look very distinguished with a navy suit. The most important thing to remember when pairing black shoes with your suit is that the silhouette of your shoes should be sleek and your soles shouldn’t be chunky.

For this particular suit, I selected a 1.5 inch cuff on the trousers. One inch cuffs on pants are pointless because they don’t add enough weight to your pants. The purpose of cuffs on trousers is to weigh down the legs of your pants and keep them straight. Personal preference will dictate the amount of break you will allow in your pants(break refers to the slight dimple when your pants hit your shoes). My preference is no break because I like to show my shoes and my socks. This type of break isn’t for everyone, so choose wisely.

Full 3 Piece (Dress like a boss)

When in doubt, brown or camel colored shoes complement a navy suit best.

Sneakers and a Polo

Custom 3 piece navy suit by Indochino - Green Polo Shirt by H&M – White Canvas Sneaker by Lands’ End Canvas – “Shy Guy” linen pocket square by Armstrong & Wilson

Pairing sneakers with a suit is often referred to as “sacrilegious”. Listen up guys. If you want to wear sneakers with a suit, you must keep your kicks simple. A pair of leather or canvas white sneakers pairs best with a navy suit. If you’ve decided to rock a pair of sneakers, dress down your look by going with a casual shirt. Pairing a polo shirt with your suit is a great option to switch up from the norm.

Honestly, there is nothing better than having a suit custom-made for you. Indochino is definitely an innovator in the online menswear market and there suit are top-notch.

The Custom Tuxedo by Enzo Custom Clothiers

(Everything in burgundy is clickable)

As a man, one of the few times in your life that you want to look your best will probably involve wearing a tuxedo. Before you run to your nearest “chain” menswear shop to rent that trust, poly-blend tux, think about the person you will be accompanying. How much time did she put into her look? Do I really look my best with this rental? How many tuxedos have I rented so far? Do I plan to continue renting tuxedos? Does this tuxedo fit my body?

Around the fifth time you’ve rented a tuxedo within two years for a host of weddings or other black tie functions, you may have thought to yourself, “It’s time to purchase my own tuxedo”. Purchasing a tuxedo off the rack from some of the top designers may work for some guys, however; in most cases there may still be some added alterations that need to be done before you find the perfect fit. If you are tired of trying to make clothes fit you off the rack, invest in a custom tuxedo from Enzo Custom Clothiers (locations in Philadelphia & New York City).

Working with a custom clothier offers a fair amount of perks that are not available when buying off the rack. Here are some reasons to choose Enzo Custom Clothier as your tailor (if you are in the Philadelphia or NYC areas).

  • You will have your own custom tailor to meet with, take you measurements and answer your questions directly
  • Custom suits start at $495, custom tailored shirt start at $89, custom tuxedos start at $495 (a third of the price of most custom clothiers). Also, check out their custom belts, ties, top coats and trousers.
  • You have the option to create custom shoes
  • The small details are all included in your pricing (custom jacket linings, lapel choices, brace buttons, functional jacket sleeve buttons etc).
  • Most orders arrive within 3-4 weeks after placing your order. Schedule an appointment now and be ready in time for the end of some wedding and the beginning of fall wedding season.
  • Best prices, quality service and quality product
  • Gift certificates are available
  • Referral Program Available

Hemp Ties by Dolbeau

It really seems as of late our friends in the Great White North, aka Canada, have been producing some of the most talked about menswear brands like Frank & Oak, Indochino and now Dolbeau. Recently, I stumbled upon Dolbeau specifically because I was in the market for a square-end neck tie (not of the knit variety). Not limited just to neck ties, Dolbeau carries bowties, pocket rounds, scarves, bracelet and lapel pins.

These days, style isn’t the only driving factor when guys are looking for pieces to add to their wardrobe. Quality is often the number one factor that will drive a guy to purchase anything. Dolbeau almost makes it their mission statement that quality is key over quantity in regard to their products. Dolbeau does not mass produce their items (specifically their ties). All of their ties are handmade (locally in Montreal, Canada) in limited quantities, even hand-making them when you ordered.

Take a look the Shop section of the Dolbeau site. You’ll see an array of ties in funky, crazy and just cool-ass patterns that really set Dolbeau apart from other specialty brands.

Product Review: IMO (in my opinion):

  • The fact that Dolbeau has injected a bit of fun into their ties in terms of style and patterns is refreshing.
  • These hemp ties are the perfect material for warmer weather months (light fabric & durable)
  • The square end ties remind me of the ties you will often see in the UK or Italy that are bit more unique than the traditional 7-fold pointed ties.
  • The fabric is high quality from Japan (from one of the best known Japan Hemp producers (Japan Blue/Collect Co.)
  • The texture of these hemp ties make them versatile enough to be worn with a suit or denim
  • Their 3 distinct features: Orange Slip Stitch, Orange Bar Tack & Square Tip End
  • Dolbeau offers pieces with personality, which I really enjoy.

Style Review: J.Fold 12′ Fall/Winter Wallets

J.Fold is one of the first brands that I had the opportunity to work with directly after starting Men’s Style Pro a few years ago. I’ve always been impressed by their commitment to creating quality wallets, bags & leather accessories with a modern flare that most companies are afraid to venture into. Recently, while visiting the J.Fold showroom, I had the chance to preview the Fall/Winter 12′ line of wallets, Kindle Fire sleeves and belts (Now available at J.Fold Online).

I find it quite impressive that J.Fold designer, Will Snyder, is able to create the amazingly functional wallets with such detail in terms of textures, colors, compact size. Even though these wallets have more pizzazz that your traditional brown or black leather wallets, they are perfect for any guy (plus they will give your money a stylish place to live). To date, I am the proud owner of three J.Fold wallets (including the Altrus Card holder and the clear cut Tan leather wallet). By clicking on the pictures, you will be linked over to my favorite piece from each line, however; if you want shop the full collection, click J.Fold.

Below are my favorites from the their line.

1. Tred Series:

2. The Clearcut Series

Supple grain leather. Very thin and high functional.

3. The Altrus Series

The card case is great to use as a wallet because it has an ID holder as well as a slot for 6 cards inside, a back slot for your cash and is very thin.

Also, check out the Kindle Fire Pop-Up Sleeve

Even though summer isn’t over, (Yes!!!) it’s already August. Many of us are not headed back to school, we still think of this time as the beginning of the autumn transition. Some of us still adopt the “back to school” mentality and start to plan their fall clothing, travel and wishes of next summer. Frank & Oak is releasing their Academy issue today, August 1st to help get guys everywhere get ready for the early summer to fall transition. Without letting the summer partying end to soon, it is (almost) time to think about making that transition with some staples for your fall wardrobe. Think light knits, blazers, rep ties, rugby style shirts, button-ups and henley style shirts this fall from Frank & Oak. The pieces in this month’s issues have a slightly preppy and utility feel to them. Below are a few editorial shots from their August campaign, where Frank & Oak shows use how to go back to school like a man (or just go back to work with some style).

EAU De LACOSTE L.12.12 Men’s Fragrance Review & Google Hangout

Lacoste Limited Edition L.12.12 Blanc “Beauty of the Game” Men’s Fragrance

One rule of thumb that I live by in terms of grooming is that every man should have a signature sent. In the spirit of the Olympics, LACOSTE is releasing their limited edition version of their best-selling fragrance named EAU DE LACOSTE L.12.12 Blanc. This fragrance and glass flacon was designed/modeled after the LACOSTE classic L.12.12 white polo originally designed by Rene Lacoste (legendary French tennis star) in the 1920′s, while he was dominating the tennis world. The packaging of this one-of-a kind fragrance is clean and simple, just like the L.12.12 polo that it’s modeled after. Starting with the outer packaging, the box displays the trademark crocodile logo, however; this new limited edition features crocodiles colored to represent flags from a variety of countries the world. The countries that are featured are: the U.S.A., Spain, France, Argentina, Australia, UK, Brazil, Japan, Germany and South Africa.

As a tribute to founder Rene Lacoste and to celebrate the “Beauty of the Game”, the green crocodile that is synonymous with the LACOSTE brand has been affixed on the flacon right where it appears on the L.12.12 polo shirt (over the heart of the bottle). The fragrance itself is very dynamic with many notes and ingredients that I will discuss at 12 noon, August 3rd  via a live stream on Men’s Style Pro Youtube. Feel free to watch it live via the MSP Youtube channel or above in this very post. The primary way to watch this video will be via the Men’s Style Pro Google+ Hangout. This fragrance is available via the LACOSTE website or in-store at Bloomingdales. LACOSTE colognes are my primary fragrance and it is great to see so much dedication and detail that was put into this campaign to continue with the legacy of Rene Lacoste. Below is a video from the “Celebrating the Beauty of the Game” LACOSTE campaign, where you can see the inspiration for the fragrance bottle from the L.12.12 polo shirt. At noon I will explain what the L.12.12 means.

Wedding Edition: The Beachy Groom featuring John Zappa

(All Text In Burgundy is Clickable)

A few weeks ago I was privileged to attend the wedding of a dear friend Patti McVey, to her amazing fiancé (now husband) John Zappa, in beautiful Sea Isle City New Jersey. A week after they announced their engagement, my wife and I met them out for dinner to celebrate the great news. There was much excitement and laughter during our dinner, but there was also one serious moment when John said to me, “Hey, man! I know you’re pretty stylish, but I’ll be rocking a seersucker suit at my wedding. So, no seersucker for you.” Those words were ingrained in my mind and I made sure to stay far away all things seersucker when putting together my wedding outfit (I ended up rocking my Indochino Custom Linen Derby Blazer and a pair of navy blue linen pants).

I arrived at the wedding and I got to see John right before his beautiful bride made her fairy-tale entrance. Immediately, I took notice of his well-tailored seersucker suit, boat shoes and knit tie. Since this was a wedding at the shore, John’s ensemble very fitting, it was easily 95 degree outside. Seersucker was the best choice to stay cool, once he hit the outdoor reception.

Style Take Aways From This Look:

  • A well-tailored seersucker suit looks amazing for a summer/beach wedding.
  • Your accessories can be a bit more fun when rocking a seersucker suit (John picked two-tone knit tie, funky-style socks, nautical cuff links and sunflower boutonniere).
  • A boat shoe is the perfect casual yet stylish complement to a seersucker suit.
  • If you’re going to wear socks with this look, make them fun (take note from John).
  • A crisp white shirt is always the best option.
  • If you want to dress this look up more, swap out the boat shoes for a pair of leather Oxford chestnut brown lace ups.

During this summer’s Menswear Trade Show in New York, I made my way up to the Block Industries Showroom to check out three amazing clothing & lifestyle brands. Blue Claw Co which makes amazing bags (work & travel), iPad sleeves, garment bags and  dopp kits. The pieces from Blue Claw Co are constructed from some of the finest and durable leathers, canvas and ballistic nylon that I have ever seen. Not only are these bags constructed well, they will only get better with age. The travel duffels meet national and international measurements for carry-ons! Today, Blue Claw Co will be launching their new Urban Collection (see pictures below). Cockpit USA (who is the official support to the US Government) produces high-quality leather bombers, military style coats, waved-dyed knits and just some outstanding outerwear pieces that will make you feel like a true American (think Top-Gun, but, even cooler). Lastly, Barque presents an idea of clothing that breaks up the norm of American menswear by infusing a “dressed-up casual attitude” and “international fusion style”. The line from Barque displays funky prints, unlined blazers, patterned trenches, modern henleys and a boat load of other pieces that any guy would feel comfortable in.

Gym Style Upgrade: Men’s Style Pro x C9 by Champion for Target

(Location: Gym: Anytime Fitness in Collegeville, Pa (Join Today and visit them on Facebook)(Contact info collegevillePA@anytimefitness.com and 130 W. Main St., Collegeville, PA. 1 (610) 489-6652)

Just because fall is arriving, doesn’t mean the many hours you’ve spent at the gym, on the track, basketball court, or bike trails should end. The one thing that should end is dressing like a bum because you are headed to the gym or about to start your workout. Ripped up t-shirts, ratty sweatpants and stained hooded sweatshirts will be a thing of the past when you discover the comfortable, cool, and affordable gear Target has to offer. One of the most physically active times in your day, when performance matters the most, will be during your workout session and you should dress the part.

C9 by Champion for Target is where style, performance, fitness and affordability come together. I’ve been a runner since childhood, my athletic background is in track & field. I distinctly remember the thrill of getting our team apparel for the season in high school and college and seeing what new technology had been incorporated into our performance wear. After graduating from college sometime ago and realizing I was going to have to pay for workout apparel with my own money, C9 by Champion for Target was a lifesaver (and money saver). With prices ranging from $15 to $35, there is no reason to look elsewhere for quality and affordable fitness gear.

Style & Functional Benefits of C9 by Champion For Target Apparel:

  • The price range of $14.99 to $34.99 is unbeatable.
  • The Duo Dry fabric wicks away sweat amazingly.  They’ve even used it in their sneakers.
  • For the price, the quality really exceeds expectations.
  • There are a variety of styles, cuts, colors and patterns that will match any guys’ style and sport.
  • Their pants come in a few lengths, as well do their shorts.
  • You can workout in properly fitted activewear and avoid looking like a clueless co-ed.
  • The tapered pant legs keep the bottoms from dragging and fraying, they also have a functional zipper for easy removal.
  • You can mix and layer the pieces as need depending on the weather.
  • The long sleeve compression shirt and long tights provide great warmth and are an excellent substitute for having to layer in the early to mid fall.
  • Overall maneuverability when working out is always at its highest.

Pretty Fly For A Short Guy featuring Charles Bellinger

(all text in burgundy is clikcable)

Men’s Style Pro will often get a fair amount of emails asking advice on how to dress if you are a man of shorter stature. Taking your reader suggestion, this post will focus on style for the shorter fellows out there. For the sake of this post, shorter stature refers to any height below 5’7 (which itself is considered short compared to a lot of guys). Outfitting himself very well on a daily basis, my friend Charles “Chaz” Bellinger shows us how to put together some great looks, while standing 5 feet 3 inches tall.

Style Tips For Shorter Guys From Charles aka Chaz:

  • Don’t be afraid to mix patterns.
  • Solid bold color are your friend.
  • Select fabrics that contour to the shape of your body. As you can see from many of Chaz’s looks, his fabric choices are soft cottons and tweed. Think of them as your “Soft Fabrics”.(see looks 2 through 4).
  • When your fabrics contour to your body, they give you more definition which can make you appear taller.
  • Tailored clothes are your best option.
  • Wearing baggy clothes do not make you look bigger. Bigger/baggier clothes only make you look smaller and unkempt.
  • In terms of pants, go with a slight break. Trousers with no break will make your legs look shorter.
  • Get a tailor. This person will be able to take your off the rack piece and make them meet your “actual” measurements.
  • If it’s a financial possibility, invest in some custom pieces. They will fit to your exact measurements and will make you look your best. (See look #1)

You will see that a fair amount of Chaz’ pieces are vintage/thrifted. In particular, some of his blazers are from thrift shops and are made by some of the top brands in menswear (quality is key). Since Chaz saves about 90% off the original price when thrifting, he can put money into getting these pieces tailored. Generally, to get a blazer taken in at the waist, the price range is $50 to $65. Below are some examples of some looks that work well for Chaz and his shorter stature.

Ezeiza Weekender by Blue Claw Co in British Tan

One common question that people have when they travel has to do with luggage. Does my bag qualify as a carry on? Will it hold up in bad weather? Is it possible to find a bag that is the right size, weather resistant, and stylish too? Blue Claw Co answered these questions with the Ezeiza Weekend that is offered in black, charcoal, navy, olive and British tan. We first introduced you to Blue Claw Co back in Augustwhen we stopped by their showroom in New York to check out their line first hand. Immediately we were impressed with the craftsmanship, quality material and the overall brand image of BCC. Adam Blitzer, founder and CEO of Blue Claw Co is dedicated to finding the best materials, and it’s evident when you handle their pieces. You may not find else anything like it in the market. As an added note, all the BCC pieces are constructed in the United States.

(You can shop Men’s Style Pro’s favorite Blue Claw pieces by clicking here or the Shop tab above)

De Gaulle Dopp by Blue Claw Co in British Tan

The De Gaulle Dopp is the perfect toiletry bag, and a great complement to the weekend bag. As with the Weekend, the Dopp comes in the same variety of colors. All of the pieces in the Urban Collection from Blue Claw Co are made from waxed canvas (get’s even better with age), brass features, full grain leather and their signature blue lining. If you are having trouble thinking of a gift to give for the holiday season or your need to refresh your luggage, give the Ezeiza Weekender and De Gaulle Dopp by Blue Claw Co a try.

Chambray Shirt by Converse One Star – Chili Red Cords by Mossimo Supply – Everett Boot by Merona

Men’s Style Pro teamed up with Target‘s online, behind the scenes magazine, A Bullseye View to style three looks for their site. The task at hand was to style 3 looks for under $100 from their fall lines. I decided to add a twist to this challenge by styling each look with some pieces from my closet as well. The idea was to show guys that you can upgrade your style without having to do a complete overhaul of your closet. Above is just one look from the Men’s Style Pro x A Bullseye View for Target feature. To read the full feature, click HERE.(http://abullseyeview.com/target-blogger-sabir-m-peele-mens-style-pro)

Style Review: Imparali Custom Tailors

(all text in burgundy is clickable)

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the showroom of Imparali Custom Tailors on 5th Avenue in New York City. It was a pleasure to sit down with head tailor, Matt Harpalani to pick his brain about the history, service and new features of the custom clothing brand.

Who

What

  • Custom Suits, tuxedos, sport coats, shirts and trousers. They also carry Vittorio J ties in store.

Price

  • The price will vary depending on the fabric choice and extras added to orders. Prices will range from $500 to $2000 for custom suits.

Men’s Style Pro’s Review

So, there are many things that really make Imparali one of helluva custom clothing brand. Their showroom experience is top-notch (the recently added bar might add to that feeling too). Matt, the head tailor at Imparali, isn’t just knowledge about custom menswear, he’s just a great guy to have a conversation with about anything. The fabric selection in terms of custom suiting options is really out of this world. Imparali offers fabric from many of the top of the line mills like Scabal and Loro Piana, but, always support the smaller mom & pop fabric shops. When thinking of the bells and whistles for your suits, the sky is the limit in terms of options (think quarter line blazers, 2 inch cuffs on trousers, functional sleeve buttons). I was fortunate enough to have a three-piece, glen plaid, wool suit made by Imparali and I have to say it is one of my favorites hands down (feature coming soon).

For the person just getting into the custom menswear game, it is great to know that Imparali offer free alternations for life as well as a 20 year warranty on your suits. All suits jackets are fully canvas (no fusing) and my favorite detail is that the buttons are anchored on your jackets (which is a feature I am to see in any other custom clothing brand). With the addition of their eCommerce site, anyone is able to purchase their products online and can consult with their style advisors live via the web (E-tailor service). Overall, Imparali gets an A for service, product and general experience.

Style Review: Mantorii Custom Footwear

If you follow Men’s Style Pro on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, you have seen the many hints of working with the online custom shoe maker Mantorii. Before releasing our officially collaboration (click HERE for the sneak peek), we wanted to review the brand so that you have better insight into what they do.

Who

How Does It Work

  • Visit Mantorii.com. Before selecting your shoes, measure your feet by follow the instructions listed HERE.
  • Select you shoe details. You are able to choose your leathers, broguing, style (Oxford, Boots, loafers, derby or single monk).
  • You’ll have your choice of the type of sole including the type of leathering or rubber you may want. All shoes are handmade with Goodyear welt soles (which makes the easy to resole).
  • There is a PDF that you will need to download with other measurement instructions to outline the shape of you foot and scan back. These measurement will ensure that the shoes are customized to your feet.
  • After you load up all your info and select your shoe style and leather, you can submit your order.
  • In 4 weeks you will have custom shoes at your door (shipping is free).

Men’s Style Pro Opinion Of Mantorii Custom Footwear

Speaking with the least amount of bias, Mantorii really impressed me with two things. The high level of customer service is almost unmatched. If ever you need to contact them via email or a social media network, someone is  always available to answer your request. In terms of their shoes, the quality really knocksit out of the park. Over the past 3 months, Mantorii has expanded their leather selection and shoe styles rapidly and without skipping a beat.

Shoe Review

The particular pair that I have styled in the 3 looks below are custom, single monkstrap and nubuck leather. Nubuck itself is similar to suede, however; nubuck is created by sanding leather to lift the nap texture out. One of the great features about nubuck shoes is that napped texture, it makes pairing them with casual pieces like jeans extremely easy. Since a part of the Mantorii process is providing your custom foot measurements plus a scan outline of your feet (with socks on), the outcome is a fit that is spot on. In the fields of quality (material & construction), fit and wearability these shoes meet A standards.

Style Tips

Wear the hell out of these shoes! This style of shoe is perfect for the casual guy that likes to dress up occasionally and is still refined enough for any suit in your wardrobe. These shoes are appropriate for all seasons, but be sure to spray them with a suede/nubuck protector to defend against dirt and water. You will see that the color pairs well with everything from light trousers to dark  denim. There are unlimited styling options with these shoes.

Project Show NY (Day 1): Top Three Bags

$

This year I’m one of the featured bloggers participating in the #BloggerProject for the tradeshow, Project Show (NY & Las Vegas). If you’re not familiar Project Show is a bi-annual trade (US) where clothing/accessories brands present their next session’s collection in the hopes to attract new buyers and press. Project Show created the Blogger Project to connect influential bloggers with brands during the 3 day event to foster relationships and create content.

On day one, I made it my mission to find my three favorite bags from the entire show. The brands that stood out to me were Troubadour, Ro and Will Leather Goods. Take a look at the bags below and let me know your favorite.

Will Leather Goods Project NY 2015Brand: Will Leather Goods

Bag Name & Style: Oaxacan Wool Rug Series Leather Duffel

Specs: 22″ x 13.5 x 9.25

Why I chose this bag: Outside of it being a functional duffel bag, the Oaxacan series of features Eco-friendly wools rugs. More than being a bag, this duffel will definitely become an heirloom piece.

Troubadour Barrel Bag

Brand: Troubadour Goods Limited

Bag Name & Style: Barrel Bag

Specs: Materials in Rubber, Leather & Open weave Nylon

Why I chose this bag: Troubadour promotes this bag as a weekender/gym bag. Functionally, the single strap is ideal for bike riders to be worn across the body. The barrel shape is reminiscent of the the military duffel, so that familiarity is attractive, however; the use of rubber as a main material is sexy addition/surprise.

Troubadour G Harris Surplus

Brand: Ro Bags

Bag Name & Style: Harris G Surplus

Specs: Leather on leather

Why I chose this bag: It’s a struggle to find a work-style tote that doesn’t resemble a beach bag and is actually functional. Ro’s Harris G Surplus isn’t oversized, there’s ample space for my laptop, phone and magazines. This bag is also offered in a canvas option in a variety of colors. And, if you’re the kind of guy that needs to carry a bag on the regular for all of your “things”, this one doesn’t give off the murse vibe.
